Summary

Colour change in fresh, ripe fruit of 7 strawberry (Fragaria ananassa) genotypes stored at 0 deg C for up to 7 days was recorded using the "Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage" colour space. External (skin) fruit colour became darker and less chromatic but did not change hue. Internal (flesh) fruit colour became darker and more chromatic. In all cases, rates of change were small. Colour change for fresh strawberry fruit during several days of storage at 0 deg C is probably not an appeciable source of error in plant breeding experiments.
