Summary

THE AUTHORS STUDY THE PROBLEMS LINKED TO COMFORT IN SMALL SPACES OF FAIRLY IRREGULAR SHAPE, REFERRING ESPECIALLY TO CAR PASSENGER SPACES. THIS ANALYSIS AIMS TO DEFINE A THERMAL AND HYGROMETRIC COMFORT REFERENCE ASSUMING THAT THE CONTRIBUTION TO WEARINESS BROUGHT ABOUT BY CLIMATIC PARAMETERS IS MINIMUM AND INDEPENDENT OF OTHER FACTORS. A MANIKIN WITH THE SIZE AND THE SHAPE OF HUMAN BODY IN A DRIVING POSITION WAS USED. BASED ON THE ANALYSIS OF TESTS ON MANIKINS, THE AUTHORS STRESS THE DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED WITH REGARD TO THE SIMULATION OF HEAT EXCHANGE BETWEEN THE HUMAN BODY AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
