THE BANANA BOARD IN SOUTH AFRICA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TRANSPORT FROM THE PRODUCTION AREAS TO THE VARIOUS RIPENING PLANT FOR THE RIPENING OF THE BANANAS ACCORDING TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS. A SYSTEM OF PACKING, PALLETIZED TRANSPORT AND PALLETIZED RIPENING WITH THE USE OF FORCED VERTICAL AIR CIRCULATION HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO MINIMIZE MANUAL HANDLING AND TO UTILIZE RIPENING CAPACITY MORE EFFICIENTLY.
