Summary
The use of compact heat exchangers for both single- and two-phase applications in the process industries is being actively encouraged. The benefits of compact heat exchangers, as well as their limitations, are briefly reviewed. A description is then given of different types of compact heat exchanger, some well-established and others relative newcomers to the market.
