Summary

A HIGHER EFFICIENCY, A CHEAPER FUEL AND A LOWER MAINTENANCE COST ENHANCE THE APPLICATION OF DIESEL ENGINES ALSO IN TRANSPORT REFRIGERATING UNITS. THEIR CAPACITY CONTROL CAN BE SOLVED BY STOPPING AND STARTING OF THE COMPRESSOR, BY COMPRESSOR SPEED CONTROL, BY ITS SWITCHING TO HEATING, BY SWITCHING-OFF A PART OF CYLINDERS, BY CONNECTING THE DISCHARGE WITH THE SUCTION OR BY A SUITABLE COMBINATION OF ANY OF THESE METHODS. VARIOUS CONTROL METHODS ARE COMPARED WITH EACH OTHER REGARDING THE SIMPLICITY, POWER EFFICIENCY, ACCURACY OF TEMPERATURE CONTROL AND THE LIMITATIONS, GIVEN BY RECOMMENDED MINIMUM PERMISSIBLE ROTATIONAL SPEED OF THE DIESEL ENGINES.
