Compressor life tests with HC refrigerants.

Summary

A special life cycle test rig has been used for the assessment of material compatibility of various components in hermetic compressors with combinations of the conventional mineral oil and various grades of HC (HC290 and HC600a) refrigerant blends including Care 30, destenched (aerosol propellant grade) LPC and commercial grade LPG. These tests were performed by using a gas cyle, at an ambient temperature of 50 deg C. The duration of the test was 2000 hours. Earlier some results have already been presented for CFC-12 (baseline data) and DIN grade HC blend with mineral oil. The comprehensive results from the study along with earlier results are presented and a comparative rating made.
