Summary

A METHOD IS PROPOSED FOR MODELLING A COMPLEX REFRIGERATION INSTALLATION, AS USED IN THE PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY, EMPLOYING A CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR AND AIR COOLED CONDENSERS. OPTIMUM DESIGN IS SOUGHT, BASED ON MINIMISING THE TOTAL OPERATING COST, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT CAPITAL COST AND POWER, AND AVERAGING CONDITIONS OVER A TYPICAL YEAR. CALCULATIONS ARE PRESENTED FOR SUCH A PLANT OPERATING IN THE MOSCOW AREA.
