Summary

A GUARDED HOT BOX WITH A MEASURING AREA OF 1,250 X 1,250 MM WAS DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED. THE DESIGN IS BASED ON LIGHTWEIGHT, ELECTRICALLY HEATED ALUMINIUM SHEETS SEPARATED FROM THE SURROUNDINGS BY THERMAL INSULATION MATERIAL. THE MEASURING AREA IS SURROUNDED BY A SEALING RING AND A SEALING SHEET, BOTH OF WHICH ARE ALSO ELECTRICALLY HEATED. THE REQUIRED TEMPERATURES, POWERS, ETC. ARE CONTROLLED BY MEANS OF A SEPARATE CONTROL BOARD. MEASUREMENTS MADE IN THE LABORATORY AND ON SITE HAVE SHOWN THAT THE BOX HAS A HIGH DEGREE OF ACCURACY AND PRACTICAL UTILITY. (SYNOP. SWED. BUILD.
