Summary

Based on a considerable difference between the speed of sound in oils and refrigerants it was found that the determination of concentrations in those mixtures by means of sonic speed sensors is efficient and reliable. Using this technique, concentrations of less than 1 mass-% oil contained in the refrigerant can easily be detected.
