Summary

IN ICE RINKS THE ICE TEMPERATURE IS LOWER THAN NECESSARY. THE STUDY CONCERNS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW CONCEPT OF A CONTROL SYSTEM, BASED ON INFRARED MEASUREMENT OF THE ICE TEMPERATURE. THE CONTROL SYSTEM HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY DEMONSTRATED AT AN INDOOR ICE RINK IN THE NETHERLANDS. THE SYSTEM RESULTS IN A CONSIDERABLE ENERGY SAVING. THE PAY-BACK TIME AMOUNTS TO 3 YEARS.
