CONVECTION IN THE INSULATION OF REFRIGERATION STRUCTURES.

Author(s) : BRENDENG E., AFLEKT K., MAEHLUM H.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

HEAT TRANSFER IN THERMAL INSULATING MATERIALS CAN TAKE PLACE THROUGH A NUMBER OF SEPARATE AND INTERACTING MECHANISMS, EG BY CONDUCTION, RADIATION, CONVECTION AND BY MASS TRANSFER. THE IMPORTANCE OF NATURAL CONVECTION ON HEAT TRANSFER IN VARIOUS INSULANTS, SUCH AS MINERAL WOOL AND RIGID BOARDS IS DISCUSSED. INSULATIONSYSTEMS FOR LIQUID NATURAL GAS ARE DISCUSSED WITH RESPECT TO CONVECTION CURRENTS.
