Cooling performance simulation using the ZEBRA software package.

Summary

The ZEBRA software package provides a means of simulating the steady-state thermal performance of chilled water cooling coils and complete air conditioning systems. Use of the package to simulate the response of a cooling coil over a range of air face velocity conditions spanning 0.5 to 2.5 m/s, and coolant velocity conditions spanning 0.125 to 2.5 m/s for fixed entering air and water conditions is described in the following. The resulting plots clearly illustrate the important performance characteristics of a cooling coil over a typical range of operating conditions, and also suggest guidelines for the effective use of cooling coils to service a range of loads in a practical air conditioning situation.
