Summary
This paper introduces a technology of cooling system for HTS power equipment. In the cooling systems, subcooled liquid nitrogen is used preferably as a cooling medium. Two technical methods for producing subcooled liquid nitrogen are described in this paper. One is an evacuation of medium, and the other is an installation of cryocooler. Then, this paper introduces practical cooling systems for HTS equipment, especially transformer, motor and cable. Refrigerator is one of key technologies for cooling systems. The author refers to developing new refrigerator which has turbine expansion of neon gas in order to have a moderate cooling power and a long lifetime.
