Analysis and design of aerostatic combined thrust bearings for cryogenic expansion turbines.
Author(s) : CHAKRAVARTY A., SARANGI S. K.
Summary
This paper derives the governing equations from the appropriate Reynolds equations for a single thrust plate and those for a double or combined thrust bearing, and solves them numerically to generate pressure profiles and load capacities. The results are presented as graphs relating performance parameters such as load capacity and stiffness to design parameters such as feed hole diameter, number of feed holes and total clearance.
