BECAUSE THE POLLUTION OF WATER SUPPLIES, SEWAGE OUTFALLS, AND THE AIR QUALITY, IS BECOMING INTOLERABLE, AND THE MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL OF WATER TREATMENT AGENTSAND POLLUTANTS IS BECOMING MORE EXACT, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT WATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ARE EFFICIENT. WATER SUPPLY AND DISPOSAL COSTS ARE RISING, AND TREATMENTS MUST BE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE. HIGH BLEED RATES ARE NO LONGER A COMMERCIAL SOLUTION. THE RECENT BAN ON CHROMATE USE IN THE USA HIGHLIGHTS THE NEED FOR A RE-CONSIDERATION OF SYSTEMS FOR COOLING TOWERS. D.W.H.
