Number: pap. n. TP-005

Author(s) : PERENCEVIC S.

Summary

The majority of heat exchangers used in today’s stationary refrigeration and air-conditioning industries are finned heat exchangers with copper tubes and aluminum fins. Heat exchangers with microchannel technology have become more and more common over the last years. In terms of efficiency, weight and economy each of the two types of heat exchangers has its advantages and disadvantages. This article is focused on some principals of cost comparison, in order to avoid some typical mistakes and to have a realistic cost comparison of these two different technologies.
