Cost-optimal analysis of cooling towers.

Summary

Water-cooling towers are sized and selected based on economic considerations and constraints imposed by system components. The study analyzes the cost-optimal selection of the cooling tower range and approach using nonlinear programming techniques. Results for stand-alone cooling towers are compared with those of chiller-cooling tower systems. A sensitivity analysis provides insight into the importance of design parameters. Some practical guidelines for cooling tower sizing are presented.
