Summary

THE AUTHORS STUDIED CRITICAL CURRENT I AND ITS SLOPE IN A WEAK PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC FIELD H AT DIFFERENT REDUCED TEMPERATURES T IN POLYCRYSTAL NIOBIUM AND NITRIC NIOBIUM FILMS AS WELL AS IN SINGLE CRYSTAL NIOBIUM FILMS ABOUT 100 NANOMETERS THICK AND 100 TO 300 MICROMETERS WIDE. THE MAXIMA IN THE CURVES OF THE SLOPE ARE OBSERVED TO BECOME LOWER AND SHIFT TO LOWER TEMPERATURES WITH INCREASING EXTERNAL MAGNETIC FIELD HAVE BEEN OBSERVED.
