RED BLOOD CELLS ARE FROZEN AND STORED IN PLASTIC BAGS, IN LIQUID NITROGEN, AFTER ADDITION OF GLYCEROL. THEIR CLINICAL INDICATIONS, AFTER THAWING AND WASHING, ARE SURVEYED. THE AUTHOR DETAILS THE FREEZING PROCESSES (WITH A PROGRAMMABLE FREEZER) FOR BONE MARROW IN PLASTIC BAGS, AFTER PURIFICATION OF MARROW CELLS AND ADDITION OF A CRYOPROTECTANT (DMSO), REPORTING THE ADVANTAGE OF BONE MARROW AUTOGRAFTS FOR THE TREATMENT OF LEUKAEMIA AND OTHER MALIGNANT HAEMOPATHIES. THE STAGES OF SEMEN CRYOPRESERVATION ARE AS FOLLOWS: COLLECTION, LIQUEFACTION, DILUTION WITH A CRYOPROTECTANT INCLUDING GLYCEROL, PACKING IN STRAWS, FREEZING AND STORAGE IN LIQUID NITROGEN. THE INTEREST OF FRENCH INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE FREEZING OF BOVINE EMBRYOS IS STRESSED: USE OF A PROGRAMMABLE FREEZER FOR THE SLOW COOLING OF EMBRYOS, ADDED WITH GLYCEROL, FROM 266 TO 123 K (-7 TO -150 DEG C).
