Cryogenic complexes in the Russian Federation for liquid helium production and prospects of helium industry development in Russia.

Summary

Helium is a unique element on Earth regarding boiling temperature, atomic composition, penetration capability, inertness and a several other properties. All these singularities define helium's strategic significance and its application in newest developments and technologies. Progress in electronics, the future of nuclear power, production of highly pure elements, investigations in medicine, fundamental investigations in physics are impossible without helium. Helium is used in aviation, space exploration, in chemistry and metallurgy, in extremely low-temperature technologies and deep-water projects. NPO Geliymash is the founder of Russian cryogenic machinery which defines the development of this industry. The founder of the company was a well-known scientist, later Nobel Prize winner, P.L. Kapitza. This year, NPO Geliymash will celebrate its 75th anniversary.
