Summary
EXCISED MERISTEMS OF POTATO AND CASSAVA FREEZE-PRESERVED FOR PERIODS RANGING FROM THREE MONTHS TO FOUR YEARS HAVE NOT SHOWN ANY SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THE PERCENTAGE VIABILITY, AND THE REGENERATED PLANTS ARE CAPABLE OF UNDERGOING TUBERIZATION. THE RESULTS PROVIDE THE EVIDENCE THAT CRYOPRESERVATION CAN NOW BE EMPLOYED AS AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR THE LONG-TERM CONSERVATION OF GERMPLASM.
