A NEW PROCESS FOR THE CRYOPRESERVATION OFSOLANUM SHOOT-TIPS IS DESCRIBED. AFTER COATING IN CALCIUM ALGINATE BEADS AND PRECULTURE WITH HIGH SUCROSE CONCENTRATION, APICES WERE DEHYDRATED IN A STERILE AIR FLOW PRIOR TO FREEZING IN LIQUID NITROGEN. AFTER THAWING, DIRECT SHOOT DEVELOPMENT WAS OBTAINED.
