Summary

THE MEASURING DEVICE IS AN INSERT IN A GLASS DEWAR FILLED WITH A LIQUID MEDIUM WHERE COOLING TO BELOW 4.2 K IS ACHIEVED BY REDUCING THE VAPOUR PRESSURE OVER THE CONDENSED WORKING GAS WHICH CAN BE EITHER HELIUM 4 OR HELIUM 3. THE INTERNAL ABSORBING PUMP IS MONITORED BY AN ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE AND THE SMALL SIZE CONDENSER OPERATES CONTINUOUSLY. THE MEASURING DEVICE AND THE SAMPLE TO BE TESTED ARE LOCATED IN A VACUUM CHAMBER. THE CRYOSTAT IS OF SUFFICIENTLY LARGE CONSTRUCTION TO ENABLE THE APPLICATION OF A SQUID.
