OF 3,696 PATIENTS WHO RECEIVED CRYOSURGERY FROM JULY 1968 THROUGH APRIL 1989, THERE WERE 66 (1.8%) WITH PRECANCEROUS DISORDERS OR CARCINOMA IN SITU: 21 WITH LEUKOPLAKIA, 17 WITH SENILE KERATOSIS, 14 WITH BASAL CELL EPITHELIOMA, 7 WITH CUTANEOUS HORN, 3 WITH BOWEN'S DISEASE, ETC. OUTCOMES WERE EXCELLENT WITHOUT EXCEPTION. PRECANCEROUS DISORDERS WHICH CAN BE TREATED BY CRYOSURGERY ARE BEST DONE SO, GIVEN ITS LOW INTERVENTIONAL NATURE WITH MINIMAL TISSUE DEFECT AND DEFORMITY, AND WITH INTEGRITY OF THE FUNCTION PRESERVED.
