CRYOTHERAPY FOR FOCAL NODULAR MELANOMA OF CONJUNCTIVA.

Author(s) : CHANG F. K.

Summary

ONE CASE OF FOCAL NODULAR CONJUNCTIVAL MELANOMA AND ONE CASE OF CONJUNCTIVAL NEVUS TURNING TO MALIGNANCY WERE TREATED WITH CRYOTHERAPY. THERE WAS CLINICAL EVIDENCE OF SELECTIVE SENSIVITY OF MELANOCYTES TO CRYOTHERAPY. THE TUMOUR LESION HAD DISAPPEARED, THERE WAS NO COMPLICATION AND AFTER MORE THAN 3 YEARS OF POST-OPERATIVE OBSERVATION, THERE WAS NO RECURRENCE AND THE EFFECT WAS SATISFACTORY. THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS THAT CRYOTHERAPY SHOULD BE APPLIED IF THERE ARE SIGNS OF MALIGNANCY OF CONJUNCTIVAL NEVUS. IF NODULES APPEAR ON THE CONJUNCTIVAL MELANOMA, IT SHOULD BE TREATED WITH THE METHOD OF FREEZING-EXCISING-FREEZING.
