Summary

A simplified method without rate-controlled freezing and with storage in liquid nitrogen was developed for the clinical practice. Recently CD34 (cell surface marker of hematopoietic stem cells) -positive cells have been used as an alternative to quantitative evaluation of granulocyte/macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM) for assessing the viability of frozen-thawed hematopoietic cells.
