DAMPPROOFING LAYERS HAVE ALWAYS CONSISTED OF BITUMINOUS ROOFING ANDBITUMEN. HOWEVER, NEW MATERIALS HAVE RECENTLY BEEN INTRODUCED, SUCH AS SYNTHETIC POLYMERIC ROOFING WITH SELF-ADHESIVES, AND RUBBERIZED BITUMINOUS EMULSION USED FOR SPRAYING. NON-POLLUTIONAL BITUMEN (NON-SMELL AND NON-SMOKE) HAS ALSO BEENINTRODUCED.
