A REMIND OF THE HISTORY OF COMPUTERS SHOWS THAT THEIR DEVELOPMENT IMPLICATES POWERFUL MOTIVES, EFFICIENT HARDWARE AND MEN HIGHLY CONVERSANT WITH PROGRAMMING. THE FIRST, BULKY, EXPENSIVE AND COMPLICATED MACHINES ARE NOW REPLACED BY SMALLER ONES WITH IMPROVED CONTROL AND OPERABILITY. THIS EVOLUTION EXPLAINS THEIR PROGRESSIVE USE IN THE REFRIGERATION FIELD. UTILIZATIONS FOR ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT, SCIENTIFIC CALCULATION, MACHINE AND PLANT DESIGN, PREVISIONS (SIMULATION), PROCESS SUPERVISION AND PLANT CONTROL ARE EXAMINED WITH EXAMPLES.
