Summary

THE THEORETICAL RANKINE COP AND THE COMPRESSION RATIOS HAVE BEEN PRESENTED FOR HEAT PUMPS OPERATING ON R500. THESE VALUES ARE LISTED IN TABULAR FORM FOR TEMPERATURE LIFTS OF 283-348 K (10-75 DEG C) IN 5 K INCREMENTS AND CONDENSING TEMPERATURES FOR EVERY DEGREE IN THE RANGE 288-358 K (15-85 DEG C). SEVERAL GRAPHS HAVE BEEN DRAWN TO ILLUSTRATE THE FEASIBLE OPERATING RANGE FOR R500 HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS. THE DERIVED THERMODYNAMIC DATA CAN BE USED FOR THE RAPID PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS OPERATING ON R500.
