Summary

Solar Air Heating has advantages over water heating because of the minimum risks owing to leakages and overheating, along with its simplicity and possible independence from the building structure. Consequently, Solar Air Heaters are an interesting solution to meet heating loads due to ventilation in winter. Many alternatives for energy efficiency in buildings disregard economical and energy costs of the same system, hence losing interest. To overcome this, a solar air heater is designed and built reusing materials that are abundantly used and disposed every day. This paper describes the experimental thermal behaviour of the prototype working under different outdoor conditions. Parameters measured are irradiation, ambient air temperature, relative humidity and dry bulb temperature at the inlet and outlet of the system, airflow inside and wind velocity.
