Design and development of CO2 heat exchangers.

Author(s) : HAFNER A.

Summary

The author presents theoretical calculations and measurements of pressure drop and heat transfer in CO2 heat exchangers (air coolers). The study included both evaporator and gas cooler design and operation. Since the surface area at the working fluid side is relatively low in today's CO2 heat exchangers, it is of vital importance to establish accurate design data. The development of heat exchangers including the first generation of round-tube (tube-in-fin) units and the next generation of advanced multiport system made from extruded aluminium was also pointed out.
