Design, manufacture and first results of a novel, large size, Nb3Sn force flow conductor.

Author(s) : BRUZZONE P., STEPANOV B., WESCHE R., et al.

Summary

The effective use of Nb3Sn strands in cable-in-conduit conductors is penalized by the longitudinal strain degradation and by the irreversible, transverse load degradation. A novel conductor design is based on a solder filled flat cable, by react & wind method. Three conductor sections are manufactured and a sample is prepared for test in SULTAN. Preliminary test results are presented.
