Design of an evaporative cooling ventilation system for a production shop: a case study.

Author(s) : PRASAD M.

Summary

The paper deals with design of an evaporatively cooled air ventilation system for the employees of a private company for air conditioning. The same is an energy efficient environmental friendly method. Evidently, though ECAVA is not a substitute of mechanical air conditioning, yet it renders quite reasonable level of comfort for relieving the thermal strain of the human beings. Interestingly, it does not involve any ozone-depleting chemicals or global warming components. The different types of evaporative cooling systems along with surface evaporation have been designed and their salient features are presented in the paper. The distinguishing features of intermittent wetting of pads of evaporative system are highlighted from energy conservation and safety points of view.
