Summary

FROST DETERIORATES EVAPORATOR PERFORMANCE: IT INCREASES THE RESISTANCE TO HEAT TRANSFER AND THE WEIGHT LOSSES OF CIRCULATING AIR. THE EXCHANGE COEFFICIENT OF THE UNFROSTED EVAPORATOR IS CALCULATED RATHER EASILY AND A METHOD IS GIVEN FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE EXCHANGE COEFFICIENT OF THE FROSTED EVAPORATOR. A METHOD IS GIVEN TOO FOR PRESSURE DROP ON THE UNFROSTED AND THE FROSTED UNIT. THE METHOD IS NOT PERFECT, BUT IT GIVES A GOOD APPROXIMATION. J.L.
