Summary

FROST DEPOSITS THAT ARE FORMED ON AN EVAPORATOR DECREASE THE CAPACITY. THIS DECREASE IS A RESULT OF AN INTERACTION OF INCREASED HEAT RESISTANCE, DECREASED AIR-FLOW AND ON MANY OCCASIONS, A DECREASED EVAPORATION TEMPERATURE. THE CALCULATION METHOD USED IS BASED ON CORRELATIONS FOR THE AIR FLOW PRESSURE DROP, THE HEAT TRANSMISSION AND THE FROST GROWTH RATE. A THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL WORK HAS BEEN DONE IN ORDER TO FIND A GOOD WAY TO CALCULATE THE FROST GROWTH RATE. A COMPUTER PROGRAM CALCULATES THE COOLING CAPACITY AFTER A CERTAIN TIME OF FROST GROWTH. FOR THE MOST COMMON APPLICATIONS A CALCULATION CAN BE MADE BY THE HELP OF NOMOGRAMS.
