Determination of shelf life of some tomato cultivars grown in greenhouses.
Author(s) : KARAÇANCI S., ELTEZ R. Z., TÜZEL Y.
Summary
This investigation was conducted to determine the shelf life of 7 greenhouse tomato cultivars. The harvested fruits were stored at 20 ° C for 9 days in polystyrene trays covered with stretch film. The stored fruits were tested for weight loss, total soluble solids, dry matter content, vitamin C and pH value at 3-day intervals. Average weight loss reached 2.8% on the 9th day of storage. Weight losses according to cultivars, titratable acidity, size of fruits, firmness, dry matter and vitamin C content are studied.
