The effects of harvest maturity, temperature and thickness of modified atmosphere packaging films on the storage life of tomatoes.

Summary

Tomato fruits harvested when they were either at the mature green or pink stage of maturity were stored on polystyrene trays either unwrapped or sealed in polyethylene films of 20, 30 or 50 microns thickness. Storage conditions were either 13 deg C and 78% relative humidity or 20 deg C and 54% relative humidity and their colour and firmness were measured at intervals during 60 days storage time. Results are given.
