Development of a ground loop heat pump system augmented by solar collection and nocturnal radiation.

Number: pap. n. 309

Author(s) : HINO T., OOKA R.

Summary

The authors are developing a ground loop system supplemented with the Sky-Source heat pump (SSHP), and water source heat pumps for HVAC, and DHW supply. The loop water is maintained in a certain temperature range by the ground heat exchangers and by the SSHP. The outdoor panel of the SSHP works as a solar collector in the heat collection cycle or a nocturnal radiator in the heat dissipation cycle. This paper describes the concepts of this novel renewable energy system and its possibilities, along with useful knowledge obtained by prototype experiments.
