Development of a high-temperature heat pump up to 140°C.

Number: 0625

Author(s) : MÜLLER M., NOACK R., STEINJAN K.

Summary

Currently, a high-temperature heat pump for temperatures up to 140°C in the power range up to 300 kW is being developed at ILK Dresden as part of the KETEC project (Research Platform Refrigeration and Energy Technology), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Free State of Saxony. In parallel, a modular test rig is being developed for the development and testing of the heat pump. The aim of the project is to develop a heat pump with an A1 refrigerant for the use of high-temperature waste heat in the temperature range of 70 to 90°C. Challenges in the development are the stability of the refrigerant, the suitability of compressors, heat exchangers and expansion valves, and the selection of a suitable refrigerating machine oil, especially for the high temperatures. Component investigations are currently being conducted, which will be presented at the presentation. Furthermore, a new test facility is being designed for the development and testing of the heat pump, since existing test rigs are not suitable for this temperature and performance range.
