DEVELOPMENT OF ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION UNITS FOR COLD STORAGE OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS.

Summary

THE USE OF R22 AND SUITABLE ORGANIC SOLVENT SYSTEMS IS DESIRABLE IN ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION INSTALLATIONS. FOR R22 THE VAPOUR-LIQUID EQUILIBRIUM RELATIONSHIPS WERE MEASURED OVER A BROAD RANGE OF PRESSURES, TEMPERATURES AND CONCENTRATIONS. A RATIONAL SELECTION OF THE OPTIMAL COMBINATIONS WAS MADE ON THE BASIS OF THE TOTAL RESULTS OBTAINED FROM A COMPUTERIZED SIMULATION MODEL. A CYCLE HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED FOR THE CHOSEN REFRIGERANT-ABSORBENT PAIRS. OPTIMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS ARE DETERMINED. STABILITY OF OPERATION IS ACHIEVED BY OPERATING IN THAT RANGE, IN WHICH BOTH THE COP AND THE CIRCULATION RATIO ARE RELATIVELY CONSTANT. ON THE BASIS OF THE RESEARCH PERFORMED, A 53 KILOW NOVEL REFRIGERATION PROTOTYPE UNIT HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED. IT OPERATES AT 270 K (-3 DEG C) AND MAINTAINS THE STORAGE CHAMBER AT 278 K (5 DEG C). HOT WATER IS SUPPLIED AT 368-371 K (95-98 DEG C), AND COOLING WATER IS AT 299 K (26 DEG C).
