The thermodynamic description of working pairs in absorption cycles with the help of the excess Gibbs function.

Summary

To measure the performance of a heat pump or an absorption refrigerating machine, the thermodynamic properties of the mixture must be known. The vapour pressure, mixture heat and heat capacity can be simultaneously described by setting up an expression for the excess Gibbs function. This can be done by a polynomial equation of the 4th order. The polynomial coefficients are fitted to the measurements of the excess properties of the mixture using the least-squares method. This method is applied to two mixtures used in the authors' laboratory. The difference between calculated and experimental values is less than expected.
