Development of gas-fired absorption air conditioner for residential use.

Author(s) : KAITA Y.

Summary

In order to reduce the peak demand of electricity in summer, it was decided to develop gas fired air conditioners. The goal was to accomplish a 5 kW (cooling capacity) water-lithium bromide absorption air conditioner within the size of 795 height-785 width-350 diameter (millimeter). A lot of breakthroughs had to be made with various components, control methods, and materials. After repeated prototype production, a gas-fired air conditioner, "Eco-Life Multi", was completed, which is the smallest gas-fired absorption air conditioner for residential use. The paper reports the processes and the results of these developments.
