Summary

The performances of geothermal heat exchangers placed in Saga University were investigated. Double-tube, U-tube and multi-tube were selected for a heat exchanger installed in a steel pile foundation. Water flows through the heat exchanger and exchanges heat with ground. Ground temperature, tube wall temperature, and water temperature at the inlet and outlet of the heat exchangers were measured. The heat exchange performances of three types of geothermal heat exchangers were measured. Double-tube had the highest heat exchange rate. It's 65% higher than U-tube. The multi-tube was next. It was 28% higher than the U-tube.
