Development of high performance reciprocating compressors.

Summary

This paper presents a project involving the redesign of the valve system for a multi-cylinder reciprocating refrigeration compressor under high-speed operation using a simple simulation program for analyzing reciprocating compressor performance. The project resulted in significant improvement in performance. For example, the volumetric efficiency was increased by 6-7% and the isentropic efficiency by 12-13% at 1,450 rpm.
