Summary
China has become a major absorption chiller producing country. In the last decade the magnitude of production and number of manufacturers have increased rapidly. In 1997, 3575 absorption chillers and chiller/heaters were shipped, and this constituted 2/5th of the values of produced types of chillers for central air-conditioning systems. The various types of production are presented. In the future, China will do its best to develop highly efficient and compact chillers, energy-saving industrial units, and gas-fired absorption chiller/heaters, to carry out fundamental research and apply automatic and remote control in order to improve the performance of chillers.
