Development of scroll compressor for alternative refrigerant in room air conditioner.

Summary
The authors have developed a scroll type compressor for air conditioners using refrigerant R410A which does not destroy the ozone layer. They have sold air conditioner units with the newly developed compressor since April 1998. The newly developed compressor has a mechanism which adjusts thrust forces, so that energy loss decreases. The efficiency of the compressor is higher than that of the compressor using R22.
