Development of three-dimensional thermal airflow analysis computer program and verification test.

Author(s) : MIZUNO T., WARFIELD M. J.

Summary

A three-dimensional thermal airflow analysis computer program for an airplane cabin air distribution system has been developed in order to facilitate design improvements. Verification tests have also been conducted with a full-size cabin mockup that has the same configuration and conditions as those used in the computer program. The paper presents a description of modifications of the program, the technique used in modelling an airplane cabin, a description of the configuration and conditions analyzed and a description of verification tests, and a discussion of the prediction accuracy, usefulness, and problems encountered as a result of comparing analysis and test data.
