Summary

The encapsulation/dehydration cryopreservation method was applied to apical shoot-tips derived from a range of genotypically diverse (diploid, tetraploid and hexaploid) potato species. All genotypes survived cryopreservation. In a glasshouse, the plants exhibited normal developmental patterns. Ploidy status was maintained in plants regenerated from cryopreserved apices.
