DEVELOPMENTS IN HEAT OPERATED HEAT PUMPS IN WEST GERMANY.

Author(s) : STEIMLE F. W.

Summary

APPROXIMATELY 15 PERCENT OF GERMANY'S ELECTRICITY IS GENERATED BY GAS FIRED POWER PLANTS. BECAUSE OF THE WIDESPREAD USE OF ELECTRICAL COMPRESSION HEAT PUMPS THROUGHOUT EUROPE, RESEARCH IS BEING CONDUCTED IN GERMANY INTO THE MORE EFFICIENT USE OF PRIMARY ENERGY SOURCES TO DRIVE HEAT OPERATED HEAT PUMPS. IN THIS PAPER, RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN ENGINE DRIVEN, ABSORPTION, STEAM JET AND RANKINE-PLANK HEAT PUMPS ARE DISCUSSED.
