Displacement ventilation systems in industrial buildings.

Summary

In the past 15 years, displacement ventilation systems with floor-level-mounted air delivery devices have gained extensive use in the Scandinavian countries. The paper discusses the design principles and advantages of displacement ventilation systems. The paper also discusses the limitations of this kind of ventilation system and how some of these limitations can be overcome with the use of ceiling-mounted low-impulse air delivery devices (air showers) that are designed to produce a steady, slow, downward current of air that does not mix with the surrounding air.
